Obituary for Alberta Ellen York (Norton)

Medway – Alberta E. York, 94, beloved wife of the late Carroll G. York, Sr., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at her home. She was born May 14, 1925 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of William L. and Mildred E. (Foster) Norton.
Alberta was a devoted member of Calvary Temple Church of God in East Millinocket for more than 55 years. She was employed by the Medway School Department for several years as Recess Monitor and Janitor. She was a devoted mother of 8 children and grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Besides her children, she had a great passion for knitting and crocheting. Every year the kids and grandkids had mittens, gloves, dish cloths, and hats. If she heard of a new addition to the family she would knit dresses, bonnets, and blankets. Her greatest passion was the family gathering, sharing songs, laughing, and talking. She would always say “I love my family” and “Best day ever”!
Alberta is survived by 8 children, Glen and Gail York, Albert and Donna York, Linda Bouchard, Blane and Dawn York, Danny and Mai York, David and Deanna York, Eddie and Penny York, and Wanda and John Van Blarcume; grandchildren, Doug, Chris, Rhonda, Karen, Matthew, Jeremy, Stephen, Marie, Tammy, Ricky, Jonah, Aaron, Cody, Dylan, Stephen, Caleb, Seth, Josh, Kristyn, Jacob, Brittney, Calvin, and Lucas; several great and great grandchildren, and a brother, Dana Norton; a special life long friend Hester Caswell; two brothers in law, Rudy York and his wife Teresa, and Leo Ballou; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Alberta was predeceased by a son, Randy Rupert York, siblings Johnny Norton, James Norton, Ruth Spinelli, Virginia Spinney, Helen Hunt, and Iola Ballou; and a special son in law, Richard Bouchard, and a grandson, Terry York.
Funeral services for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home.
