Obituary for Adrian F. Cheney

Medway – Adrian F. Cheney, 89, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at home. He was born September 24, 1933 in Willimantic, Connecticut, the son of Roger and Dorothy (Foster) Porter.

Adrian was raised in Hebron, Connecticut by his mother and step-father, Clark Cheney, who Adrian considered to be his Dad. After graduating Farmington High School in Connecticut, Adrian joined the Marines, serving a four year tour. After completing his service in the Marines, Adrian began working at Pratt-Whitney, and retired from there in 1992 as Manager of Human Resources. Adrian married Sally Scranton of Connecticut in 1955, and together they raised their family, being active in the First Congregational Church of Malone, New York and serving as president of the Habitat for Humanity in Malone, NY, where he was successful in building two houses. Adrian and Sally moved to their home in Medway in 2012, where they belonged to the East Millinocket Baptist Church, and Adrian spent time working in his woodshop and maintaining their home.

In addition to his wife, Sally Cheney, Adrian is survived by his two sons, Douglas Cheney and his wife Penny, and Christopher Cheney and his wife Jennifer; a grandson, Aric Cheney; two great granddaughters, Celestina Marie Cheney and Immaculata Marie Cheney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Adrian was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Nelson Cheney.

Memorial services will be held at a date to be announced. Interment will be at the Episcopal Cemetery in Hebron, Connecticut. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at Adrian’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
