Obituary for Aaron William Gagnon
Howland - Aaron William Gagnon, 31 years of age, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Born on February 15, 1990, he was the son of Gerry Gagnon of Howland, Maine, and Tracy (O’Brien) Whittier and husband Lance, of Lincoln, Maine. He grew up with a passion for all things wrestling, music, skateboarding, and drawing. A graduate of Penobscot Valley High School, Class of 2008, Aaron was well known for his exploits on the mat. His name currently adorns the wall of Sereyko Memorial Gymnasium, where he was lauded for the elite accomplishment of amassing more than 100 wrestling wins. He was particularly proud when he broke the (then) school record for individual wins at 137 during a home meet in front of family and friends. Some may not realize that Aaron also had an artistic gift and had a beautiful portfolio of drawings that he continued to add to, even after high school. A heart that knew no boundaries, he also had a love for cats, just like his mother, and cherished his special Nollie and Elvi, which were his rescue cats.
Aaron is survived by so many people who knew and loved him. He considered himself lucky to have such a large family that extended beyond Maine, into Canada where he loved to visit with his dad, talk about his French roots, and old times. He often boasted that his father was his best friend, referring to him as his “Big Papa G.” In addition to his parents, he leaves behind siblings for whom he loved dearly, Beau Gagnon of Howland; Olivia (Libby) Thompson and her husband Noah of Waldoboro, Maine; Kobe Libby of Chester; a very special stepfather, Robert Libby also of Chester; maternal aunt, Candance Gifford and husband Randy of Hermon; Mary (Crocker) Adams of Manchester, Vermont; Erick Crocker of Fayetteville, North Carolina; along with cousins Ashlee (Gifford) Dicker of Lee and Amanda (Gifford) Cummings of Carmel; paternal aunts and uncles, Josee Proulx and husband Paul; Sylvain Gagnon all of Quebec, Canada; Yves Gagnon and wife Gladys; Sylvie Gagnon, all of Howland; Langis Gagnon of Lincoln; Suzanne Gagnon and her significant other, Zach Weisleder of Hampden, Maine; and Kent Tardiff of Howland. Paternal cousins Laurianne, and Kim Proulx of Quebec, Canada; Bronson Gagnon and his wife, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Sophie and Oliver; Andrea Herlihy and her husband John of Enfield; Victoria, Brittany and Rachel Gagnon, of Lincoln; Haley and Bradon Tardiff of Howland. Of special significance to him was his relationship with his Canadian cousin, Michael Proulx.
Aaron was predeceased by maternal grandparents William and Margaret (Crocker) O’Brien, paternal grandparents Lionel and Mariette Gagnon, an uncle he idolized, Michael O’Brien, maternal great-grandparents Frederick and Lillian (Kenneson) Crocker.

Friends of Aaron and Gerry are invited to visit with the family 12-1 PM Saturday, March 13 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where a joint Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 PM. Services will be livestreamed, and messages of condolence expressed, at Aaron’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com. There will be a gathering at the American Legion Hall in Howland, immediately following the services.
